Well, the term «street credibility« is much much older than urbandictionary.com 😉

I found it in a 1995 book that —— wait for it —— covers collecting classic cameras! 😀

In fact, dear Mike, this cannot be a mere coincidence, because: the author of the 1995 book is talking about the time around end 1960s, beginning 1970s, when the photographers' «street credibility» was starting to have much a bigger influence what camera they were buying/using, than their actual pictures ...!

Wait.....the lens designer specifies a hood shape that will best optimize the results with the lens in question, but if you make the effort to get the correct hood you’re a “poser”, but if you don’t care, and stick any dang thing on there, you’re.......a better person, somehow? Weird.

No, but worrying about what others will think about you using the wrong hood... maybe.

60 years behind the curve as far as street cred is concerned. In 1958 he went into the Army which kind of derailed his “dangerous” phase. In 1968 he had been irrelevant enough that ‘68 was the year of his “comeback”. Comeback as what is another question. But, even then, he never cared what anyone thought about his lens hoods, so there’s that.
