So I finally landed my dream job, sort of. I'm assistant teaching a photo class and running the darkroom after hours. Not only do I get to talk about camera stuff for hours at a time, but I have unlimited access to anything in the photo lab. This place is a treasure trove, and I would like to share some pictures of it.
This is next to my desk. I get a nice G5 and a Coolscan V ED to play with. Also free awesome paper.
Yum yum yum.
Mmmm PMK Pyro.
Let's check out the darkroom. Nestled in the back amidst some 23Cs is this beauty.
Plenty of room for me and the five students.
And I'll definitely be making use of this stuff.
D76 Anyone? I've never seen it packages like this before.
There are even books to read!
I'm very thankful to my professor for landing me this job. I can't think of a better way to spend the summer. I hope you all enjoyed my photo show.

My duties include:
going to the classes occasionally
making sure the chemistry is always fresh
replacing dead enlarger bulbs
helping confused students
When I'm not doing those things I've got free rein of the place. Tonight I'll be processing a dozen or so rolls in some PMK.

Great job! Make the most of it. Let us know how the PMK comes out with that smaller film. Also, I presume your are aware of the hazzards of working with PMK?

Oh the PMK works just fine with smaller films. It's actually there because I asked for it back when I was in the intermediate class. We always keep a box of gloves around. Last night was all HP5. My exposures were a bit less consistent than normal, but I was chasing kids around all day. I haven't scanned them yet. I have some examples of HP5 and FP4 in 35mm online right now though. Will post some scans of the new stuff tonight probably.

Last night was my first time running the whole place by myself. Only one student came... but it was fun remembering what it was like processing my first roll of film. She was just as nervous and uncertain as I was, but her film came out fine. Although the hewes reels may have helped a little.

I had a chance to use the Coolscan V tonight. It's much nicer to use than my Minolta Scan Dual IV at home. I'd have a hard time choosing between the two still. Even though it's scanning at a higher res, the scans from my Minolta really seem to resolve better. But there are a hundred factors that could affect what I'm seeing. Anyway, here's an image I scanned from my HP5 in PMK negs. Done on the Coolscan in Nikon Scan 4.
