Developing problem - what is this?

Hi,

developed a Tri-X film today. I noticed that it's totally foggy as you can see in the picture. After some time the fog got a brownish colour. How come? Not enough fixing?

You can see the lower part of the film without exposed frames 🙂

was your fixer fresh?
Overfixing is hard to achieve, so giving it 5 minutes could be your SOP

I thought about the fixing time but I fixed for 4 minutes. I think it wasn't fresh enough anymore. Made some new fixer and threw it in and now it seems to look better. Thanks.

Somehow that looks more like the film was touching itself in the reel.
