DFW camera show

Well, scratch Ducky. Looks like I picked up a bug from the grandkids. They do like to share. I'll be looking for reports.
Enjoy the show.

I don't have any grandkids....yet...but I do have a daughter who was bad about passing around bugs when she was little..

Get well soon..

I was somewhat surprised to see several vendors with Leica and Canon R/F gear. However I ended up with a Nikon D200 before leaving.

Going back Sunday to see if any bargains pop up..

Met Crawdiddy. A nice guy..

I traded a Canon 7 for a nice Canon P (plus "dealer incentive"). I must say, the viewfinder does not disapoint. I've read lots of favorable comments about how nice it is in terms of size, brightness, and the etched framelines. I'm shooting a roll of the highest quality $2 Walgreens film, even as we speak. Oh yeah, I also picked up a brand new LTM body cap.

I was tempted by an Olympus Pen FT, but out of cash at that point.

I ran into colyn, who was clutching his boxed D200, and t2creative, peddling some gear around to various dealers.

It was good to meet some RFF'ers face to face.

I made it to the show today and it seemed like the tables are getting scare with each passing year.

Rick and his dad were perched at his usual table right by the enterance and I did see some guys hudled together looking at each other's camera's - not sure if you guys were RFF members.

I did find a couple of OM lenses for cheap and picked up an OM 55mm f1.2 from the Woodmere camera table. Just got back home and checked it out and it looks like an excellent copy of this lens. Sharp wide open, but not as contrasty as the OM 50mm f1.2 version.

Surprisingly, this 55mm f1.2 version is not silvernosed like the one's I have found previously on ebay. However, it does seem to be multicoated (brownish tint when light is reflected off the elements). So now I am confused if the 55mm f1.2 was ever multi coated or not. Gives me something to do for the rest of the day - find out if any of the OM 55's were ever multicoated.

Found some other nice deals for an OM1 body, but refrained. Now I wish I had spent the $100 on the OM1. :bang:

I did see a nice copy of the Olympus PenFT - small enough to pass for an RF body, but refrained.

Will start saving up my pennies until Spetember.... when the show returns.

I went to the DFW camera show today also. I was disapointed, maybe I'm jaded remembering the NYC shows from the 80's and the Calif. shows in the 90's. The stuff was thrift shop stuff. When I got there there were more dealers then people. But I did run into 2 people I dealt with in NYC when I lived there and I did pick up a book on Camers of China. All in all would rate it a 4 out of 10.
