Difference between OM Winder 1 and 2

Hi,

The winders fit different models, f'instance the Winder 2 fits the OM-1, OM-2 and OM10.

Alas, I've nothing more modern than that (meaning the instruction book for my one) but I'm sure someone else can fill in the rest of the answer.

BTW, there's also a Motor Drive 1 that winds twice as fast at 5 FPS.

Hi,

Well, I'm in good company as it says "Winder 2" on the front of the/my instruction manual and on page two and three it says about the OM-1, OM-2 and OM10...

Yeap! Mine says the same.
When the Winder 2 came on the market (and the manual was printed) these were the only models available.
The OM-2SP, -3/3Ti, -4/4Ti and the lower spec OM20/30/40 came to the market, it was on their manual the compatibility with all the winders and motor drives.

Hi,

Interesting that we both have manuals. Years ago I came to the conclusion that any film camera, accessory etc over 10 years old with a manual was a very rare beast...

I've got a file cabinet full of manual from old gear I've owned, including all my OM gear. The Winder 2 does fit any OM body. As someone else mentioned, the 2 does sequence (2.5 frames per second if I remember right) and single shot, while the 1 is single shot only. The Motor Drives do 5 frames per second sequence or single shot. Motor Drive 2 also offers motorized rewind with the OM-4/4Ti and I think the OM-3 and OM-2sp as well.

The OM-2SP doesn't have the connections for the motorized rewind with the Motor Drive 2. Nor it can reach 5 fps, only 3.5 with any of the Motor Drives. OM40 is the same as these 2 are the only ones to offer Program. That feature made it not possible to reach 5 fps.
