Difference between Summicrons

I think all must understand these lenses are old and suffer scratches and internal haze. All this must be repaired before the lens is judged.

Internal haze is the biggest performace detriment . Any at all will degrade the image and a small light is the only adequate way to judge if it is present.

When in like new condition, I assue you they are all very nice lenses with the general trends I noted in the above posts.

You can not buy a 40 year old car and see how well it performs without a tune up or ovehaul, new tire, brakes, etc. The older camera are the same.

Ronald makes some good points. I'll simply reemphasize haze. You can have really quite scruffy coatings and get good images if there is no haze. If you have perfect glass and coatings, but there is haze, you'll never get good shots.

My collapsable has a large number of fine "cleaning marks" on both the front and rear elements. But after a cleaning by DAG to eliminate the haze, it's by far the finest lens I own.
