I've had my X Pro-1 for two years and it has worked well. Recently, the on/off switch has become difficult to turn. Anyone, else experience this?

loose switch

loose switch

I should be so lucky. Mine is about the same age and has always been light to the touch. Seems like it turns on by itself. Wish it were a bit tighter.

Why bother to turn it off? It does shut down by itself. I never turn mine off but then I never turn off any electronic camera.

Just because the on / off switch is there does not mean you are required to use it.

Is this really so? I had always been under the impression that when the camera "turns off" automatically after not being used for a while it goes into low power-consumption "sleep" mode, but that if you turn it off yourself, then it really is OFF. I could be wrong.

Many cameras power themselves off by going into a sleep mode, then sometime after that do a true power down. The only way to wake them at that point is to power cycle the main switch.

Sounds like you got some crud in the switch. Clean it with some contact cleaner.

Agree completely!

The XP is BY FAR the easiest electronic camera to errantly turn on by accident that I have ever used.
