digilux 3 vs canon 5d

Canon 5D- a much better camera IMO- if you're going to buy an iEye you might as well get the king. Canon is very good at the auto everything game and this camera is one hell of a bargain at the moment.

If you want a new Leica you've got three choices:
MP, M7 and M8. If you don't want to shoot film but can afford the M8 don't hesitate to get one. Don't listen to people who don’t own the camera or have never set eyes one. Take it from me- this is an amazing photographic tool- one that you can grow into, one that will allow you to grow as a photographer, a camera to challenge your abilities, accelerate your learning curve and reward you with stunning images. Take a look on Flickr and decide for your self if this is a good camera based on… it's images.

In your heart of hearts, you already know which one you want so get that one. With either one, you'll be able to take great shots -or not- 🙂
If you get the Leica (or panny L1) try saving for the Leica 25/1.4 when it comes out. If that's too pricey, there's also the sigma 30/1.4. It'd probably be the closest thing to traditional rangefinder photography, short of getting an M8.

The Sigma 30/1.4 won't work with a full-frame camera like the 5D.

Is this still RFF?

Yes, definitely. We've allways discussed our dSLR needs here, that's why dslrexchange includes non digitial SLRs 🙂
