digital and film, what differences in quality?

For ISO 800 and higher, certain digital cameras produce much more pleasing prints than I can get with 35mm film. ISO 400 usually favors film, but not always.

Even with a non-drum scanner, ISO 160 or less works really well with film. In many cases I prefer film in this speed range.

My main criteria for these generalizations have to do with the ability to handle situations that produce fringing and/or chromatic aberrations in digital images. Also, regardless of sensor size, I think wide-angle lenses (< 28mm in 135 format) are more film friendly compared to digital capture.
