There used to be a Vietnamese restaurant in Brisbane's West End called the Vung Tau ... the food was inexpensive and incredibly good. I was very sad when it closed.
When in April 1975, the North took control of Vietnam, many inhabitants of Vung Tau, a coastal city, got on their boats to look for alternative destinations to live. I suppose that many eventually settled in Australia. Cheers, OtL

I remember asking the waitress what type of mint they used because it was hot and spicy and new to me. She told me it was Vietnamese Mint and went and got a sprig from the kitchen for me and said to put it in water until roots formed then transfer it to the garden ... which I did and had a patch growing at home in very little time. Nice memory. 🙂
