Digital Black and White.

I agree! Ficifolia's work has been prompting me to consider rekindling my very soured relationship with digital. That's pretty amazing in itself.
What digital system would you choose? Maybe an appropriate question for the thread: “What digital system produces the most aesthetically pleasing BW to you?”

I’ve had a bunch, including a couple Monochrom versions, but I’d probably say Fuji. I prefer a gentle rendering with an extended middle gray range.

For me, with B&W I am leaning toward cameras that have a good B&W JPEG engine already. I treat shooting them more like film in that what I shoot is what I get.

The endless processing possibilities in B&W conversions just don't interest me much anymore.

Any of the later Fuji's do well with the ACROS preset, my Panasonic S1R in the various L. Monochrome modes (think I like L Monochrome S the most) and the X Varios two B&W modes are very good too.

Whoa, I didn't actually say I was going to do this, but if it happened, I would probably do the Fuji x100vi. The reasoning is that I quickly become a gear whore for whatever system crosses my path; the Fuji would eliminate the temptation for lens acquisition, etc. I also like the ergonomics, and the SOC monochrome film sims look really nice. Back when I shot digital with a Sony A7II, I basically did monochrome jpegs, with only slight occasional tweaking in Photoshop. Very basic, but it met my needs. I know I'll get flamed for saying that!

Fixed lenses definitely cut down on that temptation. Or go with something like a 645D/Z to use your existing lenses. 😉

Oh get real. You know if you get an X100 and like it, you'll be jonesing for an X Pro #, XT-#, and a bagful of lenses.

I got an X100 and I loved it...

...then got the X-Pro1 and I loved it...

... and then got the X-T3 and I loved it...

...then I search for an X100 VI... and it is impossible to find one!!

So, @AAlfano you are right. 🤣

But I have been working with a lot of files in my PC (BW work) in the last days and I must admit, the FF sensors are better to work. But if you look for SOOC Monochrome, the Fuji's Across are very good.

Ah! And I love M8 photographs made by @Arnold Layne ... sometimes I have the temptation to look for one...
