Dilemma: manual and film - or digital mini-wonder-do-it-all?

simple answer take your RF rig and don't drink :) Just teasing, why not get a film based P&S like a leica minilux much better than a digi number in my opinion (I never use my olympus anymore since getting my minilux)

A lot of good advice. I say listen to Nick R. especially.

If I walk down the streets, in a mood to deliberately take pictures, my IIIf is much better to catch moments than my digicam. I've even done "near darkness" pictures at social gatherings (I don't drink) and had success. However, a P&S, film or digital, will get you a picture of some kind pretty reliably.

On the other hand, if I stick a flash on my Pentax SLR and hyperfocus, I'm going to be even faster!

Great (and honest) post and resulting answers! I've felt the same way at times. Someone said to use the right tool for the job, and when you're partying, an auto everything film or digi P+S sounds like the best tool to me.

Re-read what Nick said. Good advise! If the RF isn't working for you, don't keep it around your neck like a noose.
