disassemble the V600

Hi,

I am searching for a guide on how to disassemble the Epson V600. Only two screws are discernible. I just can't seem to find the other two screws.


Any help?

If it's like the V700 there will be two more screws hidden under a couple of plastic plugs at the opposite end ... and they are quite tricky to get out from memory.

To remove the plastic plugs you can use scotch tape. That way you don't have to stick anything under it and you won't scratch/damage/cut the plug or the housing around it.

Ok, I got it right. Tomorrow I am bringing the scanner glass to the local glass shop to have it cut. I'll keep you updated on this and why I am doing it.

It sounds like you are testing to see how much difference the glass makes by removing part of the glass. If so, I did a test on an Epson 3200. Be aware that it is extremely difficult to get a controlled/apples-to-apples comparison scan when switching everything around. If the test isn't well controlled any difference you see can actually be due to something else like a small shift in the film suspension point. For your base scan you need to do a film height calibration first and then you do it again after removing the glass. The difference in my test was small and not worth the effort in my opinion since the scanner's optics were now exposed to much more dust, etc.
