Dissapointing first results from R3a

my r3A works perfectly with my konica hexanon 50mm/2. objects are very sharp at wide open apertures on my first test roll (slides) even when projected large. I second the other suggestions here, try with a non FSU lens and see if there's any difference.

I agree with Walker's advice... The problem is the incompatibility of the lenses to Leica-standard flange distance, so adjust the lenses to work properly.

Keep your records that the lenses have been modified to Leica standard so that when/if you sell them, you can make that clear to potential buyers.

Thank you all for the replies - All that really matters is that the camera body is OK, as I'm planning on getting the 40/1.4 Nokton pretty soon for wide open work.

Thanks,

David

The camera is probably fine; the difference in focus that you have shown can easily be from the difference in the lens-standard.

Quick -but you gotta remember it- fix; with these lenses train yourself to line up the RF image and THEN back off a bit. The focus will always be beyond what is indicated by the RF; so "refocus" the lens a little bit to the near side. A little bit of compensation will bring it to within the DOF.

You do not want to recalibrate the RF of your $600 camera for $100 worth of lenses.

Oh come on! That really is below the belt - I never saw sanity listed as a condition for joining this forum, in fact I thought that it was dissaproved of. 😀
