I don't know it this is where you're supose to post this. Feel free to move it to where it belongs. :)

I was just surfing for camera stuff when I came across a unique camera strap. The concept looked simple enough so I decided to make one myself. All you need is 1” wide nylon strap approx. 8” in length and a small split ring. If I was to make another one I’d use a slightly thinner nylon strap. It’ll make the job of installing the split ring to secure the setup a lot easier. What is "slightly thinner"? You'll know what I mean when you try to install the split ring. :p

Use whatever you want to make the holes. I heated up a phillips head screw driver to make them. You’ll need to make 3. (See attached diagram) The holes should be large enough to fit over the eyelet on your camera easily. Don’t forget to use a lighter to melt the ends of the nylon strap and in the holes you’ve just made.

When you secured the nylon strap with the split ring you’re done. It should look something like this (See attached photos).

I dunno if I like it or not. I’m gonna keep it on for now. I prefer neck straps personally. :)

Good job! Something like this is available commercially, but you've shown how easy it is to make yourself. Thanks.

Decent Idea, except there were no strap lugs on my FED3. :(

On a seperate thought, I have heard somewhere that the strap lugs on Kievs were quite fragile and it is a bad idea to use single lug wrist straps on them, can anyonere here confirm this rumor?

I made one very similar last month. Mine was made from the nylon (?) webbing that we use in Europe to operate our window shutters, and I had the ends sewn at the local shoe repairer.

40cm of webbing was €0.10, and the sewing cost me cup of coffee for him later in the day.

That's exactly where I got the idea from Laika. :) And je2a3...I've never taken a picture in my life with the lens cap on. <thinking to myself> I wonder if he bought that

Oh yeah........I had to fix something with the diagram posted above.

LOL! I'll pretend you didn't mention that fotosniper. :D

I removed the camera strap today. I think I'll stick with the neck strap. :D
