DIY: Konic Hexar RF alignment

Sorry for digging out this thread, but i have a little problem, my vertical alignment is really good from infinity to like 1,2m, but from 0,7-1,2 its a little low, how can i change that?

Does' 2. Up-down 1m coincidence adjustment: Set the lens distance mark to 1m and check at a distance of 1m. If out of focus, set halfway to [infinity] (use 1m chart)'
mean i should just put the lens to 1m and fix it? Doesnt infinity get screwed up with that?

In this case, I wouldn't change the vertical alignment. The Hexar RF is very sensitive to the position of the eye behind the VF, and to whether the camera is level with the subject. The parallax between subject, RF mirror, VF and eye can make vertical alignment seem off at close distance while in fact it isn't.

Finally took to plunge and popped the top off my Hexar RF. I have had it off two times in the past, once to attempt fixing the vertical alignment and once to glue back the frosted window.

Anyway, I have removed the wax blob in the past and took a close look at it using an enlarger and I could not see any wax left. Trying to turn the cog wheel seems impossible. I tried in several different ways. The best way (without any special tool for the purpose) seems to be to use a good quality plier holding one of the grips and gripping a cog. Gentle and careful trying to maintain a grip, but could not really make it moved it seemed.

Popping the top back and presto, it now seems to be spot on. It was only very lightly out of vertical (a bit low), but enough to be annoying and make me not use the camera.

So I put everything back and will take it for a spin and see how it goes.

To remove the screw holding the exposure compensation wheel I use two sharp wooden sticks (cocktail pins), one into each hole. Then holding them at the other end with my fingers, I use a plier over the middle of both sticks and twist them around.
