I know this is a long shot, but I have a Hexar RF that I need to adjust the horizontal and vertical rangefinder alignment and the small flat head screw that's between the cog and the small rangefinder patch prism is rounded out. Anyone knowledgeable in repairing cameras have suggestions on how to fix the screw or any tricks for turning a damaged flat head screw? Everything else about the camera is perfect, I don't want one tiny screw to make it a paperweight.

Thanks!

Contact Greg Weber in Nebraska, who's probably the top Konica repair expert. I don't have his contact information, but I have seen others mention him a fair amount here. Try searching his name on this forum.

I had one of these when it first came out. Could never keep the RF in alignment. Sent back twice to Konica and the second time they return it then sent me the a page out of the repair manual to do it myself. It's not that hard to do but I no longer remember what you have to do. Myself, I gae up adjusting it, put a VC 28mm lens on it and just used scale focusing. And went back to Leica.

I'm afraid that will end up being my experience. I hope that's not the case because I love the camera otherwise. Up to now the alignment wasn't problematic, it was just slightly off and I decided to try to adjust myself and damaged the adjustment screw. :bang:

Found Greg Weber's contact info in another thread: gweber(at)webercamera.com. I don't have his phone number offhand but he's in Fremont, Nebraska. Haven't dealt with him in years, but he's a great guy. If he can't help you, I don't know who can.

Said to be a nice guy, but you really need to catch him on the phone, does not seem to do well with e-mails... Hopefully still current info.

Thanks Doug and KoNickon, I was able to get the screw to move with a lot of effort and everything now seems aligned at infinity and at 1 meter so fingers crossed I got it sorted out. I'll know once I put a roll of film through it. If not, I'll definitely reach out to Greg.

Bit of a long shot but by any chance do you still have that page? I'm looking at getting a Hexar and would love to know how tricky the alignment is to do! I have experience with repairs and live in West Aus where there are few camera techs who are likely to touch it, so would love to get a gauge on how likely I am to be able to do it myself.
