That's a drop of liquid electrical tape applied with a toothpick. It seems to be holding up pretty well, I guess time will tell how often the stuff will need to be reapplied. The flare problem is definitely fixed though.
I know it doesn't bother some people, but the M7 flare really annoys me. Mine flares indoors even when there aren't any light sources near the subject and makes focusing extremely difficult for me. I tried using the Leicagoodies SHADE, but it fell off and I lost it after about 3 months of use. Plus it makes the framelines pretty dim. DAG charges $250 for the upgrade, Youxin doesn't work on the M7, and I'm not sure how much Leica charges. Eventually I may go with a permanent fix but for now I'm happy with the liquid tape.
