Thank you, John. These are two of four images that I kept from an afternoon of photographing a local fountain. I worked with a variety of lenses and used a tripod.

I like this, Biomed - and I'm intrigued by the processing... the 'heavy' grey mid-tones appeal to me for this type of shot.

Was it done with SEfex, or by some other means?

All post processing was done in Lightroom 5. I use Lightroom for the majority of my images with occasional forays into Photoshop CS6. I have used third party plug ins in the past but tend to stay away from them now.

I really am developing a love/hate relationship with this lens. I have been using the 12-35 for a couple of months now and still haven't gotten the feel of it. It has a completely different character that I haven't able to wrap my mind around yet. I am completely taken with the 35-100/2.8 that I purchased the same time as the 12-35. The lovely 35-100 will do almost anything I ask of it. I am going to have to work with the 12-35 exclusively for a while. It is capable of producing superb images. Maybe this is why I like primes better than zooms.

Thanks for your reply.

Regarding third party plug-ins: I agree... in my experience, they always seem to promise much, but ultimately, disappoint.:(

I may finally be moving to an accommodating relationship with the 12-35/2.8, not quite 100% yet. Maybe it will improve with more time.

I am still working on getting consistent results.

Biomed, I've been all the way through the six pages of this thread and I'm blown away by your pictures. Most of us on here are pretty ordinary photographers but to me your work stands out. I particularly like the photos where you have picked out details of a scene. I really must start taking my time and looking closely at things to see the potential. I've found it all inspirational. Thanks for giving my photography a boost.

Great work, biomed.

Thank you so much for your kind words.
