In the print edition, there's a discernible red smudge where the dot would be. It's not so apparent in the online photo (at least on my monitor).

Would that be a Noctilux?

That is the 'old' type of Noctilux, the same as I have. On his visit to Oslo earlier this year he seems to be using a Canon D5.

But I can't believe the people who are saying 'does he know it's not automatic?'.

At the risk of turning this into a political thread, I can think of one or two politicians who might conceivably be that stupid, but they're not Russian. It seems far likelier to me that anyone who is seen more than once with an M9 and Noctilux may possibly be a keen photographer.

Wouldn't it be fun if he started a thread on RFF? Perhaps we should send him an official invitation.
