in case you're wondering, this is a bad idea:

you buy a leica m6 without a lens; you have it sent 2 day shipping, but the lens you bought (from someone across the border) is not expected to arrive for another 4-5 days.

torture.

Maybe sleeping pills? :p

See but that's why rangefinders are better than SLRs. You can sit looking out your vf and focus and consider exposures and take pictures without a lens because your eye won't know there's no lens there. When you have a Leica just pushing the shutter release and advancing the arm feels good.

Sorry man - it'll get there and it'll be worth it : ) The Color Skopar fits very nicely on the M6 and makes for a great carry-and-shoot rig. Look for contrasty light and it will give you some really sharp images. I shot it with Freestyle's LegacyPro and liked the look.

Get a subscription to Netflix and 4-5 bottles of Jack Daniels (one for each day you wait), you'll be fine.

Find a friend with a lens. Find a camera store with a rental program.

My version of your predicament this weekend: made an expensive purchase from Amazon on Wed. Told them to ship Next Day to my office so that there will be someone to sign for the item. Amazon's affiliate retailer says "will ship in 1 or 2 days" putting the package, with next day shipping, at the office over the weekend, where there will, of course, be no way to access the box. Cancel shipping option, go with "free" ground shipping. Box will arrive Monday. 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Hey, it beats delivery by horse-drawn wagon.

I feel your pain.

Ben

bah humbug.

the lens came today, but...

rather than ensure my film was properly loaded, i assumed it was. i am pretty sure that i wasted my first $0.99 roll of film (i.e. it didn't load, so i didn't actually take any pictures). oh well, i've done it before.
