Do screw mount adapters produce perfect results?

I am thinking of getting the Voigtlander 75mm f2.5 lens (a Leica screw mount lens). I want to use it on my Leica M6TTL... so I need the adapter from Cameraquest.com.

I am wondering if the quality of the images are equal on an LTM body and an M body with the adapter attached?

Is there any degradation of the image quality due to the adapter being attached?

Good ones are fine, or Leica wouldn't have risked them. Bad ones... Well, if they ain't 1mm thick, no, they won't work properly. All mine are genuine Leica, from before the days of modern Voigtländers, when they were much easier to find second-hand. I'd be astonished if Voigtländer ones weren't as good.

I have a 75/2.5 Heliar also, with a CV adapter and it focuses just fine. If you get a bad adapter or lens from a good seller, such as cameraquest, you'd have it replaced anyways I believe.

The china adapters on the other hand is a mixed bag. I got one that was to thick (perfect for FSU lenses on my Bessa), and I actually got one that was missing the LTM threads on the inside.
Did get a refund for that last one tough 🙂

I also have the 75 and a CV adapter. Results are flawless and very sharp.

As long as you stick with the CV (cameraquest) brand or the original Leitz adapters results will be flawless.

The Chinese adapters have no quality control so actual thickness will vary which will result in focus issues..

Error is additive so precision is important. Long ago I owned the worlds ugliest Nikon F. It worked wonderfully but was so beat up I took it to the inspection department of the machine shop I work at and asked them to measure from the lens flange to the film rails. They measured four points and got the same number to the limits of their measuring ability which was .0001 of an inch on their coordinate measuring machine (CMM). That's about 1/60th of a human hair (depending what hair, they vary) which is very precise by most any standard. I don't know how you can get that precision cheaply so I would recommend buying adapters of a know quality. Good Luck, Joe.
