I just found a local photographer is selling some vintage leica cassette with spools. Are these any good?

Would appreciate any input.

What camera are you planning on using? Because these things are camera specific and will only open in the cameras for which they were designed, i.e. Leica won't work in Nikon and vice versa (though as far as I recall, Contax, Nikon and Kiev are interchangeable).

To make life still more interesting, the Leica ones come in two flavours, 'black mushroom' (or 'brass mushroom') and 'chrome mushroom'. The former work only with screw-mount; the latter, with screw and M. The 'mushroom' is the little lug that engages with the opening key on the camera.

I'd post a link to my site but the server appears to be down. Go to Photo School > How Do I...? and you'll find pics of several kinds of reloadable cassettes, all of which are excellent for the cameras for which they were designed.

Edit: Link OK again:

THank you guys for the info. I have a m4 and a m6ttl. I would love to use the cassette on both cameras but it seems like it won't fit in the m6 as you guys mentioned.
Do you guys think is worth it to buy these cassette or I should just stick with the current oem cassette and change them regularly?

btw, the 10 cassette are selling for $35.

Thanks again,

Chris

Ten for $35 is a very attractive price. If you enjoy bulk loading, these really are a much better option. You can always sell on the excess cassettes and recover the $35 while keeping a few for your own use. I'm sure there are several people heere who would appreciate a few more. (But I have all I need thank you!)
