Do we want random pics at the top of the landing page like in old rff?

I just noticed that pictures marked as private also shows up in the random section. It's not a big deal to me, but if somebody thought these pictures could not be viewed by others then that is obviously not the case.

I view RFF during work lunch and have to be careful when a stray naughty/NSFW image appears in the gallery banner. I usually collapse the gallery after landing on the homepage so it’s pretty quick.

The "new" random gallery is interesting to me as I can discover new images to me each day. I have 4000 images on RFF, so seeing one image of mine makes sense from a probability perspective if there is a random process in the selection of the displayed images in the random gallery.

Looks way better than in used to be. It just random now (have no interest to look at, but it is not disturbing).
Before "update" it was two American goofs for green party, some boy with red speckles on his face and some fat fetish lady or two. Plus some wide seat lady taken from back and totally skinned dude beside.
Man, I feel it like total sin before, now just no connection better pics overall. 😀

How about random from the most liked? That would imply some sort of filtering by members.

I enjoy seeing random images taken by rff members. Perhaps a way to make it more interesting and relevant would be to also "tune" the images according to weekly themes. Say for example it's " Contax rangefinder month", there will be more, or exclusively, random Contax rf images, to inspire people.

I think random works great. That's why I revived this thread. It is the best way to see new pictures. If it is based on likes, it will be the same pictures again and again and soon enough nobody is going to be looking them.

As usual, I’m the weirdo in the group. I always collapse the random stuff and adds and whatever else pops up. I just like to see what’s new. I have fond memories of the good old days but I have no need or desire to see them every time I visit this site. Heck, there are plenty of members constantly reposting their old pictures already. Why make a rotating kaleidoscope of that stuff as well? Personally I wish there was a rule that said one could only post up new images once; no reposts. One and done!

I must say that the randomization algorithm used here is kinda special. This is an example of what I often see; ten images and only four different shots.
