...currently checking my cameras to empties ratio.

Not so much with alcohol, but when I was prescribed Ambien to help me sleep there were a couple of times I made some questionable purchases.

I never knew this, but at least for me, if for whatever reason I don't fall asleep after taking Ambien, all of a sudden everything seems like a good idea! And it turns out that this is a terrible time to open up the laptop and go on Amazon. I ordered a whole series of books thinking to myself, "Wow, if I read all these books it would make my life so much better!"

The books arrived later that week, and I didn't even remember ordering them. After some time I figured out what happened. The books are sitting on my self, unread.

Amazon and Ambien don't mix!

I can say hell yes to this. I own (and have owned) MANY things because of my drinking and purchasing skills. My 300+ t-shirts collection were half from drinking. My 50+ pairs of Vans slipons were mostly drunken purchases. Countless games, movies, CDs, gadgets, gizmos etc were all purchased drunkenly.

I no longer drink and am almost 3 years sober. And guess what, I still buy stuff willy nilly. SO drinking was not the problem. Oops. :D

Hilarious thread :)

I'll say I usually buy a few more drinks after I've had some, but the few times I've had an eBay push notification come in on my phone or when I have been close to a computer I've never lost my wits enough to actually buy something.

I took matters into my own hands, an experiment.

4 beers in and I've already got 3 coral pink skins coming from cameraleather.com
Dare I venture into the liquor cabinet? I feel a hello kitty repaint coming on could anyone spare a few sticker sheets?

In all seriousness, have a drink on me. I can promise you won't have a set of Noam Chomsky books at your doorstep tomorrow morning. Unless of course you needed one!?

I can thank port wine for giving me the gumption to buy a darkroom setup. I was scared that I wasn't good enough or ready for it yet at that point.

My photography purchases are usually well-thought out, so I can't say I've really experienced this problem. I'm not much of an impulsive shopper in general. Which is good, because I enjoy a glass or two of wine most nights!

Not with booze, but I have been guilty of hitting up the classifieds late at night after I've taken a pill to help me sleep. Some people sleep walk or eat on this stuff. I sleep shop! Very dangerous!

Guilty of that .... my 50mm Summicron-M was an impulse buy after three beers. It was high on my wish-list but the three beers were necessary to stop me hesitate of buying the lens ... :D
