I have several of mine printed on large format and framed on walls in my hall and living room. Does that make me pretentious?

Family portraits, not the "artsy" stuff.

Pretentious, no, why? You should enjoy your work, and having physical prints is the best way IMHO. Apart from several framed prints, my girlfriend (who is also a photo buff) and I have a whole wall with our pics. They are laminated and are being changed 3-4 times a year. The laminated prints are easy to store and use in new combinations - or as place mats

One area for artsy and another for family.

Pretentious? Why would it be construed as such? You are not shuffling your work down other people's throats! If anything I'd think that hanging your own photo in your house demonstrates your pride in your work, and that will probably push you to strive harder. I just moved to a new place, and I made sure I've enough wall space for a small gallery area.

what?
My artsy stuff is always hanging in my basement ("my world") and the stairway upstairs. Only family portraits go on the parlor walls.

I do. I've got some framed and others on foamcore boards attached with velcro tape. I don't think it's pretentious. I've got photos taken by other photographers hanging in my house too.

I use thumbtacks.
I use thumbtacks to affix binder clips to the wall, which makes it easier to change photos, and they stay straight. I mostly print 8.5x11, so I set it up so I could hang 8 photos, with space for vertical or horizontal, in two rows of 4, with the thumbtack/binder clip setup.

Yes, especially black and white architecture/travel photographs, in my office. It is not pretentious. I know some people who kkmow nothing in art, buy expensive abstract paintings and hang them everywhere in the house, because it is expensive. This is, i think pretentious

I'd like to when I move to a new home. It'd be nuts if you can't enjoy your own photos on the walls of your own home.

Agree - not pretentious - I have some of mine and some of other people's and they are framed. Also some of my family ones could be construed as "artsy"
I agree with some other posters that it's a good way to enjoy and also evaluate ones images

I think false modesty is pretentious. I have the wife's and my pictures all over the house. The family shots are in the hallway and in our bookcases, the rest is our work. If you are proud of your work you must show it.
