this is probably *completely* the wrong group to post this on (especially after reading some of the logic in that leica vs medium formant inane thread) BUT, what do you guys think of this:
What happens when you post a photo on Flickr without a release. Flickr is the publisher, so the liability falls on them but I wonder if there is something in their terms of use where that falls back on the user. Anyone run into first hand experience with that?

Are you talking about model releasesWoolenMammoth said:What happens when you post a photo on Flickr without a release.
If that's all so (and, if you're worried, see a lawyer - don't trust me), then what circumstance are you thinking of where a model release would be required for a photo uploaded to flickr? I can't think of one, offhand.
Or are you talking about something different that I've completely missed?

This is an OLD thread that I'm resurecting - I'm sure there are many more RFFer's out there NOW with Flickr photostreams - let us know about them.
A link to mine is in my signature. I appreciate constructive feedback and comments on my photos, and try to do that for others as well.

I like flickr. You simply need to join the right groups and add the right contacts, that way you only see good photos in your stream, and receive mostly feedback from photogs you respect.

I had forgotten setting up a flikr gallery a few years ago, containing a handful of photos locked from public access. Discovered it by accident yesterday when poking around flikr as a result of this thread! I'd also forgotten it was a Yahoo feature... I think I'll use it and see how I like it.

My flickr stream is in my sig.
My biggest beefs with flickr are the excessive sharpening done to images and the inane comments and pseudo awards made by fans toward certain photographers of minimal talent.

mainly for the groups that have information I'm interested in; BUT, I really don't like the layout of the site (very rigid and inflexible) or the goofy awards and all the hyper comments.
As an aside, I wonder if flickr is paying for product placement in editorial content. I bought a copy of American Photo yesterday and it has a BIG layout on "12 stars of Flickr." I also have a website on Pbase, and I get far more page views there than I do at Flickr, plus it's a breeze to change the layout of my pages and change the gallery sort order, etc.

it took me a while to get into flickr. i first set up an account as a place to dump photos for friends to see, then i slowly got sucked into the community aspect of it.
spend a bit of time wading through the crap, and you find some great groups and some great photographers, then all the crap becomes invisible (until your picture hits explore and all these glittery diamond, shiny star, flickr heart comments start... :/ )

I have been there for a couple of years, I guess.
Good community (like others have said) if your willing to wade though the "pool flooders".
I have enjoyed a lot of interaction with digital infrared aficionados...

I never did figure out to make links in your signature here at RFF look any good. Anyone have any tips on that??

Wow. Zenfolio looks nice.
I am wary of posting anything online as it tends to become de facto public domain. So, I just use an online site for organizing and cheap printing. For that, winkflash.com does fine. I can get matte, bordered, 4x6 prints for $.06. I upload in Japan, order for US delivery, my family sees the prints and sends those that they don't select on to me in Japan. Compared to the local $.39 per glossy option, it's a nice deal for me. OTOH, their complex visitor access system is pretty crap.
