fortunately for me, the people i bought from didn't share fireblade's sentiment
Sometimes it's painful to look at a lens that languishes in a dry cabinet for too long. I would prefer it goes out and does some good work in someone else's hands

I've never had any camera/lens combinations that I considered to be perfect. Everything's had little niggles that prevented me from getting fully attached to it so I never find it hard to sell gear. I also can't divide myself between multiples of focal lengths or formats, so that also makes it easy to sell things to try something else.
Maybe I'm holy grail chasing, or maybe I'm just too fussy.

I tend to hoard things. If I've used it and consequently become attached to it I will never sell it. I considered selling one of my guitars to fund a lens, but I couldn't let it go after I thought about the memories I've had with it. Even if I were able to buy another model, it wouldn't be the same if it weren't the same one.
I'm pretty sure I'll have a garage and a dozen storage lockers filled with stuff by the time I'm old and grey.

i find it hard to be sentimental about 'stuff'.
