Do you own too many cameras?

I've never counted mine, and have no intentions of doing so. It's always better not to put a number on things, I find. So I *might* have too many cameras. But until I count them all, it's only a possibility. On the other hand, I *might* have just enough. It works for me.
 
Yes. I've tried and sampled a lot of things over the years, but continue to maintain my core of Nikon manual AI-S lenses and now a Z body and kit zoom. I keep only a few pieces of kit that provide a benefit that outweighs the cost of using/keeping them (financially/time/ease of use) or if they are especially enjoyable in the using.
 
There was a time 15 years ago when digital was at its height people were dumping their film cameras at Thrift stores. How do you pass up a Nikon S2 & lens for $20 or a Nikon F2 and lens for $50 when both are pristine? I bought a Zeiss Contax II & lens for $20 and many more. How do you pass these things up? Do I have too many cameras? YES...YES...YES!!!!!!!!! Some have only seen a single roll of film and some I have not even used although they work perfectly. So, again: YES...YES...YES

Did this happen once in awhile? Sure. Did it happen en masse? No.
 
Yes I have too many film cameras. Sentimental value and occasional usefulness are factors in favor of keeping stuff, but the greater the market value, the less sentimental I become! If they were selling for around $300, I might've held onto a nice Leica M4 + 35 mm Summicron, but at $2K+, it's outta here. If I just wanted something shiny and nice to fondle, I would've done as a friend did and just carry around a gold coin.

I'm not amazed, but I'm also not really keen on using ebay. I tried to GIVE AWAY a few nice point and shoots in the last few years for price of postage and no one wanted them. Tried to sell a few thousand dollars worth in motion picture cameras, listing on forums as well as ebay and had no takers, in spite of prices which are lower than what goodwill is selling the same things for. This market is crazy right now.

I had to do a list for insurance. I ended up showing 40 Nikon film, 3digital and a Rf S2, plus over 50 lenses. Leica, Rolleis, various med format including over 30 Zeiss folders + others. OMG , but I love cameras and I don't think I can stop.
