Do you still have your first M?

I still have my grandmother's m3 she gave it to me the year before she died. Sat unused for 15 years and then DAG did a CLA 2 years ago, works like a charm and my favorite camera. I will pass it on to my son or grandson after I die.

That's excellent. I have nothing from my grandparents. Well, besides genetics.

Started this thread because I'm agonizing over selling my M4-2. Out of the M's I've owned, it's the only one that's given me no problems so far.

Traded my M4-2 for an M6 which has been great for 15 years. But I do miss that M4-2. It was lighter than the M2. Would find a way to keep it second time around.

Yes, I still have my first Leica M, an M4 that I bought shortly after that model was introduced. Also an M2 that I bought as a black and white camera.

My father-in-law gave me his M2, 50/2 'cron DR, 35/2 Cron, and 135 Elmarit when I married his daughter 13 years ago. Totally unexpected, and awesome gift!

M6, c. sixteen years and counting. Never had a single issue with this camera and we've shared too many hours recording the company of friends no longer around and places now forever out of reach to ever part with the thing. It just keeps on clicking out the memories without getting in the way, what more could we need?

This is very strange.
It would make perfect sense, to sell this silver chrome M6 classic, as it is barely used these days (M8.2 and MP mostly).
The point is, I am holding onto it, as it is my first Leica and it is by far (and I mean F A R) the smoothest, finest, most precise operating Leica M, I have ever held in my hands (including my other Ms and many, many samples at the shops and of other M users).

I have no idea, how in fact, this M6 can be smoother and more precise feeling than M2s and M3s of other people, who swear by how much smoother those M2s and M3s are than anything, Leica has produced ever since - especially, as it is just a lowly M6 classic 😀

I won't sellin' it!

I still have and use my first M, an M2 button-rewind purchased in 1967. It had a CLA about 5 years ago and is butter-smooth... 🙂
