Does a Bessa L make sense as a dedicated body for a wide like the CV21mm? I'm not keen on switching lenses too much in the field and would prefer to just reach into my camera bag and pull out a wide lens + body combo. The Bessa L is neither too heavy or too expensive. Right?

My only leica based equipment is a Bessa L and 15mm. It functions beautifully as its own system.
Having a rangefinder with lenses that short is just wasted space on the camera anyway, right?

I also have a Bessa L with Skopar 21mm, and it makes a very compact camera - I have the bright-frame finder on mine, and my concern for damaging or losing it is the only (slight) drawback to having a perfectly pocketable camera. I got my Bessa just recently from photovillage, and paid just over $100 for it (may have been a special sale, for all I know).

When I have my L, 25mm lens, 400 film, and mostly outdoors, I use it like a Point N shoot camera. I use the hyperfocal scale, f16 and 22 mostly, and it's carefree shooting. My favorite camera for outdoors.

I got a Bessa L to use with the 21mm Skopar. It has a problem with film take up. There are a couple of threads discussing this problem.

The L is great for just wides but the T is a classic. I'd consider it well worth the extra bit of cash because it can step in to backup for the big guns if you should ever have the need.

My cv 21/4 with lens hood and viewfinder reside permanently on my Bessa L. This frees up my Bessa R for the cv 35/2.5 and Canon 50/1.8. Works great. Have had no problem with film take-up or rewind. Got my L for $95 used but it looks as if it had never been used - no marks on the rails, no marks on the pressure plate.
