Does anyone here use the Digilux 2?

Yup, I own one and it's a real pleasure to use despite its age. Not taking it out as much any more as it deserves though... used to like it a lot for 'street' with its wonderful 28mm wide-angle lens.

I used to but I sold it because the files looked terrible once printed over 8x10. The files only looked good at this small size under ISO 400. Also, it was also very light and felt fragile and the viewfinder was the worst of any camera I had ever owned. Basically, it sucked.

I have Lumix LC1 (Panasonic version of Digilux 2), and I use it and love it. I like it more than Digilux 3 which I also have, and much more than Canon 5D. The lens is divine. Megapixels are irrelevant, the image is important.
I shoot it at ISO 100, even indoors and in low light. It works. And I can print as large as I wish - thanks to PhotoZoom Pro.
 
I have a D2 and it is a wonderful camera. In the day when the digital bodies came in and looked and handled like space ships, the D2 handled like an old (film) friend.
Shoot it at ISO100 and you can print 8X10's that look very nice.
The 2/3 sensor is small but that lens and the JPG algorythm is (or should be) a legend some day.

I am not going to argue that this is the right camera for everyone. It is very expensive for what it produces, but I love the way it works and I won't be selling mine (now clad in red leather and perched on the top shelf under glass in our parlor).

Like an old hat or pair of shoes that you love, you know?
 
I have one. Love it to pieces, although I don't use it anymore cos the LCD screen has started to go wonky. Need to get it fixed one of these days. It is simply superb for straight out of camera B&W jpegs - at ISO100 they look like T-Max, and at ISO400 they look like Tri-X (although I tended to "push" the images even more in post to get more grain and higher contrast).

Not bad for ISO100 colour, too. Very smooth tonality and quite filmic. I once had a small print made and displayed - a friend who visited thought it was from my Canon 5D.

No complaints about the images whatsoever, 5MP or not. The only things I don't like about it are cosmetic: the heft (wish it were slightly heavier), the rather awkward boxy corners (wish it was M rounded), and the discernible high-pitched electronic buzz.

I'd seen that page before but thanks for reminding me. The sheer quality of the images that the guy shows is very encouraging. I own neither the D2 nor the LC-1 but I certainly appreciate the design and the output. :cool:

Yep, I agree with this. The noise has a very nice film-like quality.
 
:D very nice indeed!

I find the EVF ok actually provided one uses max magnification with manual focus. For autofocus it's also ok.
 
Hi,

I've had mine for years and years (apart from the traditional return to Germany for a new censor). I still use it, it's a very pleasant camera and I get 20" x 16" out of it.
