I have an Elmar 3.5cm that needs some CLA. Does anyone know who works on lenses at a resonable price WITHOUT also doing the camera? I am new to LTM's and could use the help.

THanks

Ray

I am sure Essex Camera in NJ works on LTM lenses as does Don Goldberg, DAG. I have had Canon lenses worked on by both with good results. You may want to call or email them to confirm that they work on the Elmar.

All the regular experts work on lenses

All the regular experts work on lenses

All the regular experts work on lenses.... DAG, Sherry Krauter, Kindermann, etc.

It's up to you to decide whether the price is worth it.

I have had a number of LTM lenses serviced by Pete Smith of Fotocamera Repair, Inc. Great results, service generally runs from $65 to $85. I have also had very good results from DAG Camera. The turn-around time from Pete Smith is usually a couple of weeks, significantly faster than DAG.

DAG overhauled a pre war Elmar 3.5 for me. He did a good job of it and the lens performs very well. It is worth the expenditure just to so how well these old lenses can perform when restored to good condition.

Welcome to the forum Ray! :) My experience is with Don Goldberg (DAG Camera) and he is excellent, but takes time. About $100 as others have stated but the results are superb. Don CLA'd a rigid Summicron for me that had haze on internal elements and it came back and was like it must have been for the first owner when they bought it from the shop. Unbelievable what he did with that lens.

I'm not familiar with Kindermann, do you have a web address or a phone number, anything that would help me run him down.

Thanks......Ray

Youxin Ye has worked on my screw mount lenses and bodies.
He's reasonable, fast, and does an excellent job.
Search RFF for his contact info.

Can anyone give me the mailing address and email address of Youxin Ye?
I need a rangefinder repair.
Thanks,
Eric

A fellow named John Maddox in Greenville, SC, works ONLY on screw-mounts. He considers M's as not being the "right stuff"...he's listed in the Leica FAQs and his number is 1-864-297-6931.

One great thing about Youxin is he seems to work in conjunction with DAG. He currently has a Leica II which he's CLA'd for me and he was good enough to forward the Sumaron lens (which he can't do) I sent with it to DAG for me. When DAG has CLA'd the lens Youxin will return the two items to me together here in Oz. The only drawback with this arangement is that Youxin had the II CLA'd in a week and DAG is going to take 6 - 8 weeks to do my lens.

It's very good of him to do this ... and it saves me a lot of messing around sending items to two separate repairers on the other side of the world.

Wow...trhanks to everyone for helping!! I have a number of resources now.

FYI, Oleg and Gandy will not work on lenses anymore unless they are part of a camera job.

THanks again!!
