Does Olympus OM-1 have "in-between" shutter speeds?

Hi,
Does Olympus OM-1 have "in-between" shutter speeds?
For example, if I make the red shutter speed mark pointing somewhere between 125 and 250, then fire the shutter, would it go as something around 150 or 200? Moreover, is it safe for the shutter to do so?

No, the OM-1 only has the marked speeds, nothing in between. If set between speeds, one or the other will be used - but who knows which one?

Yes, but in real life, it's useless because of the mechanical shutter.

Accuracy and variability with temperature and tuning of mechanical shutter may not be used with full confidence.

As side note, OM system has something to choose for that.
With 0M-2/4 maybe ?

I don't think so, I just tried my om2 which I would think has the same shutter and it just jumps to the next speed if you know what I mean.

Just what I was thinking maybe the 125 is actually 180 and the 250 could be 220 etc

I had a theory that the meter would jump at the moment a different speed was selected, but that is not the case. The meter does not jump. If the shutter speed dial is turned slowly between speeds, the meter moves smoothly. To answer your question about whether or not it hurts the camera, the answer again is "No." I have done it (years ago, since I was also curious) and the camera still works like before.

It will not hurt the camera but you might not get the speed you were choosing. It is possible that from the top speed down to about 1/250 you can get a sort-of intermediate speeds, because at those speeds the actual "speed" is controlled by regulating the shutter curtain opening. For a camera to be able to give reliable intermediate speeds in this zone it needs to implement a precision mechanism.

As far as I know there are very few cameras designed to give reliable intermediate speeds. The Nikon F2 is one, another is the Leicaflex.

My understanding is that the Om-1 doesn't have any in between speeds but the Om2 will determine speed used by measuring the reflected light from the first curtain - I think it will shut the curtain when it decides that the film was adequately exposed.

Actually, the OM-2 shutter is quite different from the OM-1 shutter. The OM-2 shutter is electronic (the OM-1 is mechanical) and the OM-2 shutter is stepless in aperture priority mode.

It can meter off the film in speeds between some seconds to 1/45. Anything above that, it measures the light reflected from a printed pattern on the first curtain.
