just picked up a mamiya 6 with a 75mm yesterday. seriel 306xxx

read through the guide, shutter fires when back is open but not without film when back is closed. is this normal?

anything i should check for on this thing since its new to me?

.....The meter on them can do weird things in overcast light.

I would add "in any light!"

Beautiful camera! But you do need to learn the meter's foibles. It can underexpose because it picks up glare from the sky, for example. All broad angle meters can do this, but the Mamiya 6's meter seems worse. That's why I use AEL (meter pointing well away from any bright light source, then recompose and shoot).
