Does your lab toss your "bad" film images in the trash can?

Has anybody had this happen? I shot a roll and accidentally overexposed it all by two stops. Silly me neglected to set the camera for the correct ISO.

The only place near to me that develops film is a Walmart 😡 So, I took it there, but was told they can't do push and pull. I figured I'd take a chance on it. Maybe there would be something I could salvage at home with my scanner.

When I got the film home and opened the envelope, there was short a strip of film (three frames). The rest was missing. They threw the rest out with the garbage.:bang:

When I worked for some labs, the customer got the whole roll back. It was up to the customer to decide what wasn't usable.

They shouldn't do this. Two stops over on C41 should give you plenty of negatives recoverable in PS.

What did they do for you ? I always get complete uncut rolls, no prints, no scans back from Walgreens - never had a problem.

I just got home a short while ago. I haven't had time to go back.

What happens when the roll has the last shots of a family member who isn't with us any more? In the case of important shots like that, wouldn't I want a poor image in place of no image?

I'll go back and give them [expletive deleted], and do my business elsewhere.

I've always gotten the film back, even if all clear or all opaque. The information is still there, the technology to recover it is lagging.

Some time ago, I spent a pleasant evening photographing the constellation ORION in black and white using a Vito B. Took the film into my local F**I shop to be developed. When I returned to pick up the prints, the owner said "sorry, nothing came out - they are all blank, see". I asked him to print the negatives anyway, regardless of his opinion. He did, and there were some fine shots. Just goes to show that the shop had no interest in the customer.
Did'nt go there again........
