I totally understand most peoples frustrations about a hyped commercialised camera.
But apart from that, it's really a nice camera to use.
I bought it because I knew the camera from a friend and fell in love with it, that moment totally not aware yet of the "lomography society" that sells out plastic stuff as exclusivity.
I didn't pay tons for it, like they sell it now. The money I paid for it was a fair amount for the value I guess, because I burned already tons of rolls with it in the past years.
I own my lomo LCA now around 10 years today, and I liked it in the way of use: easy.
Half automatic half adjustable. The camera just has it's limits/handicaps, but on the other hands it has it's charms and other way of use.
It chooses it's shuttertime automatic, you don't know beforehand how long it will take.
You cannot set a correct focal length, only 0.8m, 1.5m, 3m and infinity.
So by cause of this, your pics will 90% of the time slightly out of focus, unless you put it on infinity to take panoramas the whole time.
The aperture is set as Automatic aswel, best setting. You can adjust it but for this point and shoot camera it's quite useless, certainly if the focal length is not that correct.
It gives me warm colors, nice vignetting. Can manage every 135mm film and you can go as experimental as you want. Rewind films, double shots, x-process, you name it.
The advantage I have is that I can just put the camera somewhere and push the button. I don't have to mind the shuttertime, don't have to bother people with a flash, etc...
I haven't experienced a faster camera for spontaneous shots or spy shots.
Even with digital compact camera's I always have to change a setting, setting flash to 'off', the time a digital cam opens it's zoom I already have shot the picture with my lomo.
I shoot my lomo as with any other camera I own. I use my lomo with the same love and value as I shoot with my Nikon or Zorki. NOT because it's hyped by the lomographic society as HIP.
