I just sold an old Kiex 88 kit (that I never liked very much) and a Tamron 28-200 mm AF lens to help pay for the Bessa L and 25/4 lens...I know others out there have done this too...what shuffling has gone on in your camera life?

I moved my Rolleiflex from the Omaha Steak box into my hands for a church picnic yesterday. Bound and determined to finish of a three year old roll of film. I just haven't been able to make myself use that camera. In this case, I actually found it a bit of fun. I think finishing the roll will be easier, and I might even get to like the thing again.

That isn't what you were talking about thought, was it? I would have a hard time selling a camera. I don't usually buy them unless I expect to be using them. I will no doubt be selling a 4x5 though. I really bought it for the lens that came with it. Actually, the first one I bought was as much for that as for getting a 4x5. It came with two lenses for $125. I may sell it too and just keep the remaining Cambo. Then what would I buy? Film I hope.

...patience and shuffle the cameras. different horses for different courses? yes/no.

i shuffle/waffle back and forth between 35mm & 120 & 4x5. most of the time, the mamiya6 wins out. for me it's the increased information - mainly the wider contrast range of the larger (than 35mm) negative - and the square format.

i can live with - aaaarrgghh - the approximate 1meter minimum focusing distance, "battery dependence" - i'm also dependent on film - but that topic is a w-h-o-l-e 'nother subject/topic/thread, the "delicate/almost unrepairable winding mechanism", and having only three lenses to work with.

i do carry my oly xa almost all of the time...and am thinking about a yashica t4 zoom as an alternative/replacement. pocketable, auto-everything zoom & flash.

for me, going back and forth between cameras and/or formats helps me re-boot/refresh my way of seeing...and that's a good thing. 🙂

relax, take care and enjoy. 😛

Oh but Joe, it would make for such the interesting flow chart! Can't blame you though... would be like writing a novel!

i bought my first 'good' camera in about 1970 or '71, i still have it. it's a rf, the oly 35 rc, complete with original hood and uv filter...been doin' this for awhile now.

In general, I have kept most of my cameras, but I have sold a few. I sold a Hexar RF and bought an M7. I have been very happy with the results. I also sold a Fuji G690 in favor of a Mamiya 7II. Again, I have been very happy. At the moment, I am considering selling my Hasselblad 203FE for a Rolleiflex 6008AF. I really like the 203, but I find it a bit fussy in terms of handling. The rolleiflex just seems to be a better integrated camera with a better lens selection. They have very similar values on the used market, so I think I will just swap them out (I bought all the 200 series stuff used).

I don't sell any of my cameras (so far) but I do shuffle between formats. My normal day to day carry along camera is a 35mm. Of late that has been the Yashica GS.

But I have been shooting more medium format of late and I dragged out one of the 4x5's a few weekends ago. The Mamiya 645 has been my camera of choice of late when I go out specifically to shoot . Big viewfinder, multiple lenses and a neg size that my scanner does not mangle. If I shoot B&W I can see results the same day after developing the negs at home. I can see results the same day with 35mm as well but not with the smooth sharpness of the larger format.

Having said all that I loaded a roll of Tri-X in the Rolleicord last night. It has been sitting too long and I feel the need to use this superb and simple camera.

I haven't actually made up a camera rotation roster but it probably would not be a bad idea.🙄
