I'm really thinking about picking up one of these nice little bags, it will handle a body and a pair of lenses and film and maybe a small flash. Does anyone have any pictures of these bags loaded with gear or any other reccomendations?

Hi Carl
Hi Carl
Several local RFFers have this, and it works pretty well with smaller lens, sideways, and with room for another lens or two, and some film or whatever.
With the lux 75 and Noctilux, I set the whole camera down on it's back with extra padding below, and above, so with the big lens it's not a quick draw case, at least the way I use it. Comes with 2 dividers that you can move around, but little padding, so you should add some. The canvas is thick, and the build quality is good.
There was some mention that they're not made in the US anymore, so I'd check that out.
If you come to the thing next week, you can checkout mine and probably others.

Ok
Tell me what you'd like to see in a 5fxb and I'll see if I can configure mine up and take some snaps.

Ah, very cool, thanks ted.
For me it would probabably either be 1 body with a 35mm lens mounted, and then the 75 in the bag maybe a 50 too, half a dozen rolls of film and then my sf20 and meter.
That or 2 bodies with lenses mounted and the film and the flash.

One body with a couple lenses, film and meter will work OK, but two bodies and a flash, film etc etc is at capacity -- you'll have to root around for stuff instead of just picking it out.
The various pockets are pretty tight as well, so unless you're a real minimalist, go up a size. The Velcro kind of drives me nuts, but some people don't care. Got mine from Adorama maybe two years ago and it has the Made in USA tag and the usual Domke quality.

I have a Domke J803 and an F7 as well and love domke bags, the 803 is great for a pair of bodies a couple lenses and everything else i just need something a little smaller. I sometimes find myself bringing another body just to bring another body with the 803 and don't want to do that all the time.
That means I guess I can live without 2 bodies in there.

I own that and and the small satchel f-803 in od green. The small satchel handles the gear better with mutiple pockets/sections. I use the 5xb for my MF camera or video gear. With the 5xb everything bumps around and needs to be wrapped, making it not the fastest bag to work out of.

i've one of these little Domkes, and like Joe Brugger above the velcro is quite stout. I toned my down with some tape. I don't like the zipper pulls. The rattle too much for me, and I'll cut them off and replace with cord pulls. My RD1 and a couple of lenses fit pretty well in it, but I most often I take my old 803. The little domke also lacks the handy top handle grip of the 803.

I think it will compliment the 803 nicely,
(I can't believe I just said that, talking about bags for crying out loud!)

i went out this morning with the 5xb, in it was my cle with 15 and finder on the body and the r4a with cv 50 on it. also film and extra batteries and lens cloth. fits well, easy in & out.
i also put some duct tape over maybe half of the velcro to keep the noise down.
works for me.

Hi Carl - I wrote up a mini-review of the bag on my blog, and there are additional photos of the bag here:

Just remember to add some padding somehow, maybe scavenge some velcro dividers from another bag or something. I'm pretty sure you'll find it useful.
