i just bought a domke f-5xb bag. i thought it looked small. im very happy with it. i can carry my contax g1 with 45mm lens, 8 rolls of film, and (sorry people  ) a nikon 4300 digicam. just in case, anyone else is looking for bag. you might want to check this one out.

My brother has one and its a nifty little bag, I might get one for myself later.

My only problem with it is its so small it really looks like a man-purse.

I just bought this bag about a month ago. I am very pleased with it. I am able to comfortably carry a Fed-1 and a Leica IIf, each with lens and external finder attached, as well as a meter and several rolls of film. Because I'm a little odd, I removed the Domke label on the front and some of the stiching to make one bigger pocket out of the three very small ones on the front. This bag is a perfect fit for me.

i just got one a few weeks ago.
i cut the label off too but mine had only one pocket on the front already.
it holds the zi with lens attached, a second lens plus film and lens cloth.
it's great for a one camera day.

I have two! :) Thanks, Ralph!

Mine are for "light shooting," and while I never took off the Domke label (makes it more, ahem, masculine), one has a large side pocket, the other one has a seam in between, making the pocket a pair of compartments. They both take a body, two lenses and a flash, with some film (two or four rolls).

Nice things they are! :)

It seems like there may be two versions of this bag.... Mine is like joe's; 2 re/movable interior dividers that allow for 3 compartments (I typically only use one of the dividers), and one exterior pocket that runs the length of the bag along the front. Looking at the description on the Tiffen site, there's no way mine has seven compartments and pockets. But I like it. I often carry a couple of fixed lens RFs, and sandwich and cup of yogurt.

The Domke F6 is slightly larger. As shipped, the central compartment has a moveable 2x2 insert that allows free space on each side, or you can coalesce the free space to one end for an SLR. There is also a front pocket.

I can store an M with 'cron 35 in one pocket of the insert!

I bought a Domke F-3x recently but it arrived in the wrong colour and it felt too bulky -- much larger than I needed. I exchanged it for a F-5xb (which should be arriving this week). Hopefully it will be less bulky without straying into "man-purse" territory . . . dunno though. Time will tell!

Say, Rico, I have a question about the F6 bag. I think the interior measures 12" in length. Correct? How much of that length does the insert use? How much open space is left over for camera body and attached prime lens? I would like to carry a small Nikon slr camera w/attached lens at one end of the bag, as you do with your slr camera. Thanks. Bill

Bill: I have the F6 as well, and you can do that no problem. I do that with an OM-1 with 50 or 21/2 attached. The bag comes with a 4-compartment insert; I also bought the 2-compartment insert, giving me more flexibility.

Rectangular measurements are almost meaningless because the canvas can deform at will. However, I approximate as follows: 12.5" long, 5.5" wide, 6.5" tall. The 4-way insert is 8" long, leaving 4.5" of free space. That is plenty of room for any common film SLR (even the Nikon F5) with standard prime attached. The Canon 1Ds with EF 35/2 is very tight and with EF 50/1.4, impossible. I expect the Nikon D2x with any 50mm to fit,

One could also truncate the insert with scissors. :)

Just a quick thought about inserts guys. Any of the contax G series lenses (including my 21mm) will fit perfectly into a foam beer cozy, even with hoods attached (you know, those little foam thingies they give out for cans). All I had to do was cut them down in height to make the lenses easier to grab quickly. Get a few of these things and you can make almost any bag work

Good suggestion. That's what I did as well. A perfect fit for my 90mm Tele-Elmarit. Being a bit longer lens tahn your 21mm, I didn't need to cut the length of the cozy any.

Received the F-5xb on Friday. It is certainly in man-purse territory but I've decided I don't care. It's discrete and is the right size for the amount of gear that I generally carry around (Canonet + Bessa L or T2 or Lomo + film). Recommended.

the more i use mine, the more i like it.
and i really like the domke strap on it, the bag never moves off my shoulder.
