Refuses to suffer fools
We managed to get past our immediate financial crisis, so I've decided to take advantage of the moment to upgrade to a D300 body. My D1, while solid, requires too much post-processing and the D70s frankly sucks as an action body. The D70s and my old Nikkor 70-210 will be sold to help fund part of the D300; I'll probably hang on to the D1 and try and tune it for JPEG shooting or maybe convert it to IR.
So, if all goes well, I should have a new D300 with MB-10D in hand by 3-1! The D300 should be a real boon to my railroad photography.

Congrats, I bought a D200 last year and love it with my old AIS lenses. Come see us over at NCU (Nikon Camera User) http://www.nikoncamerauser.com/modules.php?name=Jig

Thanks, Todd! I'll try and stop by tonight - I'm running short this AM.

Double your evil, double your fun!
Congrats! My own D300 should arrive within the next couple days. My AIS lenses are planning a welcoming party.
I'm moving up from a D40 and actually have been pondering converting it to IR too.

Whoa, Ken, that was fast! I'm glad you got it now.
BTW, I just joined the NCU forum. Todd's right: lots of familiar "faces" there.

You'll love the D300. It's great.

I think I'm going to hold off another week - prices seem to be dropping slightly...

Do the pair of DE-1-equipped black F2s that I use for B&W help my case?

Well I'll be joining the Nikon crowd sooner or later - I have a 55mm micro nikkor on the way soon, and a friend is going to trade me a FM2.
Do you guys still have a RF?

I can assure you Ken still has his RF cameras. I have mine too... despite my recent Nikon purchases and upgrades.
I have not been using my RF lately. I just seem to enjoy the instant results from the FF dslr.

Just upgraded to a D300 as well. So far I'm delighted with it, but I'll be the first to admit it's a pretty hefty camera to carry around all day. Worth it, most of the time.
Still prefer RF's for city shooting though.

You are not alone, running a roll of film through my cameras is going to be difficult after using the D700.

It does get to a point when instant is not fast enough. ;-)

Jorge, which FF dSLR are you playing with? The Nikon D3 or the D700?
Just wondering...
My little digicam (Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1) sits here on my desk, unused and looking forlorn. It's great for eBay and FS stuff, though!

Playing with the D3 and Zeiss lenses. The D700 may be in my horizon very soon. The size is very small compared to the D3 and not much larger than an RF. I may be drawn to the dark side 100% unless we see a FF RF camera soon.
By the way, favorite lens are the zeiss 35, 50 macro and 100 macro.
