DP 2 Merrill on Safari

I’m taking a risk by not packing a telephoto lens on my trip to Kenya. I’ve decided to go wide with my DP2 Merrill. I’m hoping to get more intentional quality wide shots on this trip. Hopefully my travel companions will get some beautiful close ups with all their gear. Am I a fool to rely on this beautifully quirky camera?

I'm not sure that would be my only camera on a big trip. The lack of telephoto, limited DR, limited ISO, slow focus, limited buffer and very slow write speed (which resets the writing if you take another shot in the buffer) and limited battery life is a lot. Beautiful files for sure within its abilities. Along with something else, sure.
