Word of warning about poor customer service at Amazon. As I stated earlier in this thread I ordered a DP1s for the amazing price of $299 from amazon. They emailed me stating it would be a couple of weeks before they could deliver the camera. Well about a month passed and I got another email stating it would be a couple more weeks. Then I got another email asking if I would still like the camera. I emailed them letting them know that I did indeed want the camera. Well about a week after I emailed them they sent me an email stating the the camera was not available.
It is very disappointing to hear this because they have continued to list the DP1s for sale (AT HIGHER PRICES) since I placed my order. They also have shown the DP1s for sale since they emailed me stating that it is no longer available.
Is this not a case of false advertising. Offering to sell a product at a certain price then failing to deliver the product at that price? Are there any legal experts here on RFF.
I still have the emails received and sent to Amazon.

Was it offered by Amazon, or by an independent vendor using Amazon, or buy a vendor using Amazon for fulfillment, i.e. shipping and billing?

wgerrard, yes it was offered through amazon and the emails I received were from amazon not a third party. Up until this point I have always had good service through amazon, and this seems very uncharacteristic. I am an "Amazon Prime" customer and I will look at the emails but I believe this was supposed to be offered through their Prime shipping service.

That's very strange, then. It is uncharacteristic, I agree. If you haven't yet, you could call their customer service and suggest a solution. I've called them a few times with good results.
