I finally used my "new" DR on an old model Olympus E-P2. It makes a great portrait lens this way.

This is from the camera (RAW) to LR5 to jpg:

This version is (supposedly) like an instant film.

This version is without color.

It's one of the great Leica lenses..
I remember using it w/Tech Pan 25 back in the day..and the DR was so high resolution with lower contrast..it was the only lens I could use with that film on high contrast sunny days..enlarge to 11x14 all day long..and see every detail...and no grain..

Raid, I think the focal length is too short for such a close-up portrait. Do you have a 90? I think you will get a better portrait of your daughter with a longer lens and greater shooting distance. How about an environmental portrait of her with the DRS?

Did you use the DR with its goggles for close-ups?
Yes most definitely..
The DR was my 1st Leica lens..I got it in 1988...w/M3 and instruction book and leather case..all matching..a doctors camera..in mint..goggles too...
I just took it out of storage recently..was thinking of going back to film for a bit..and took a few quick snaps with a Leica enlarging lens..50mm Focotar 2..which makes a hell of a macro lens..

Hi Rob,
I will next try taking some outdoor photos with the DR. Good point.

I got the lens without the goggles (as a first step). Your DR looks great.

It is a crop. Distortions will be the same as what you get in the central 50% of a 50mm lens here. The DOF is same as that of a 50mm lens.

I know...f.o.v., I type...
I don't see distortion at all, maybe place your lovely daughter a foot back...
Thanks

Thanks. I need to check whether it is the correct model for my DR.

Great shots Raid. I this is the second version goggles, good for the first version lens. The opposite is not true. The only reason I keep this lens is for the close-up goggles and to preserve it for ever, some people do the conversions to be able to use it on M9, but I believe it is a sin.

The head bartender has a nice page explaining the difference between the two versions.

I'd use the goggles more if I had an easy case to carry them in. I picked up a dr earlier in the year that came without the giggle case. I haven't found a practical way to carry them around yet.
