Dream Camera?

I know we did this question once upon a time, but we have a bunch more members now, so maybe we can get some fun answers. This is just my attempt to lighten things up a bit around here. Don't take the world serious... 😀

Let's say you win this weekend's $365,000,000 USD Powerball lottery jackpot 😱 and now, with all that coin, you can afford to commission your dream camera from any maker in the world (and you probably could with that much in hand 😀 ). Describe what you would like to get under such circumstances... And hey, don't worry. With that much coin you can also special order a lifetime supply of film and chemicals... 😀 😀 😀

I'll go ahead and lead off. I'd like a 6x6 interchangeable lens folder. Modern materials for body and bellows, TTL metering - with spot metering & flash capability, Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority AE, but as much mechanical as possible - if the battery is gone, I'd want it to still be usable. I'd personally prefer Zeiss lenses, but, hey, I'd be happy with any modern producer's glass - just that there would need to be a 75/2.8 Tessar T* as the basic lens for the system... otherwise how about 45, 55, 80, 135 & 210 (as fast as can be made 😉 ) as a nice range of lenses. A leaf shutter system would be nice if a reliable one can be made for at least 1/1000th, otherwise a good very high speed (1/8000th ala Canon EOS) focal plane shutter would be quite acceptable. As for batteries - take a lesson from Canon's T-90 and make them nice bog standard AA alkalines!

Your turn... 😎

Dream camera : RF645, and I have it. But, it would be even more DREAMY if I could buy a 65mm F2 for it.

I could dream about using the money to realize some business dream (of which I have many), but I really just want the faster lens for the RF645.

An Leica MP with all modern lenses and a few old ones. Other than that, a digilux 3 as a snapshot camera.

(I know the 3 doesn't exist.)

My dream camera would be a silver titanium R3A coupled with a Zeiss M chrome 50. 😎

William,

Noting wrong with us "old lefties" becoming capitalists for a good cause! 😀

I'll have to sleep on that one.

Teak and brass 5x7 rangefinder with a handle on the side. As for the lens, an f:2 145mm leaf shutter lens. Oh, and just to really make it ridiculous, a Grafmatic style 5x7 holder. And a special order of Delta 3200 in 5x7.

Talk about trying to teach an elephant to waltz... 😀 :bang:

William, just curious--would you go for titanium or carbon fiber for the body?

Fred

Carbon fiber where ever it'll work. Much saner to work with than Ti. I've friends in aerospace... 😱 Ti is almost as bad as molybedamned. I've often wondered if Kevlar would work for the bellows.

Hah! THAT is the kind of thing I started this thread to read! Thank you, Sir!

Which (Speed Graphic that is) I own, use, love. I just wish I could afford the old bulbs and go annoy the governor at his press conferences... 😱
