Dream travel destination

@ Cal and brennanphotoguy: yes, that's the way! A few month ago my wife and me supported this trip toward North Cape of a young photographer who lost a leg in Bosnia, we met him a few days ago to listen to the story of the journey and look at the special photo he took. Great story.

Cal, many years ago I had a Jeep CJ3 with a Spanish Diesel Engine, it was more similar to a tractor than a car...but during the '87 winter IFCR we had a terrific snowfall and I was one of the few able to drive...I'll look for a photo of that Jeep...

jsrockit- I have a friend who for 30 years was a merchant seaman and traveled all over the work. When I asked him to name the two most beautiful cities he had been to- he said: Valparaiso and Singapore. I would really love to go to both places and also New Zealand.

I went there to hang out with a woman I met in NYC back in May and I thought Santiago would be the highlight for me. I was very wrong. So much so that I would actually consider moving to Valparaiso some day. Already signed up for Spanish lessons to make the next trip a bit more comfortable.

This may not quite qualify since I've been there before... but I'd like to revisit places in western Turkey where I went in 1963-64 when I lived for 18 months near Izmir. This was where I took up photography as a hobby, so that powered a lot of exploration on foot. Good memories... I'm sure there have been a lot of changes since then and some places may not be easily recognizable.

I crossed off my #1 travel bucket list earlier this year, Japan and loved it.
Always been fascinated by Japanese culture since I was kid with manga/anime and video games, wouldn't mind going again.
Also got to see Hong Kong and Singapore which were pretty high on my bucket list.

Others that I would like to see one day is Africa or South America, London possibly next.

Otherwise, there's still a lot in North America for us to see, particularly the east coast.

New Zealand. Amazingly diverse and beautiful. Has my favourite climates. Where I was supposed to immigrate before I ended up in Canada. It's far, wild and beautiful. Fits the bill. That and I been around a lot of places.

NZ is excellent. It's like Canada compressed into a few hundred km's. For Australians it's not much more expensive than flying for a holiday locally, I've been many times, sometimes just for a weekend.

For me, Japan. Plans brewing to take the family over early next year. Can't wait.

But my dream destination has always been Antarctica.

I had always wanted to visit London. In 2005 I lived there for a semester abroad. Now? I think Japan. I haven't been to any Asian countries yet. I've explored a good part of Europe and Latin America though.

Speaking about "dream" travel destination, it would be the ISS to get some distance to our planet and see it from a different perspective.

... and experience the "overview effect"! (link).

Impossible to top that! The ultimate dream travel destination and experience for sure.

Scotland/Ireland, Sicily, and Australia are usually at the top of my list, but I think I'd really like to go to the Faroe Islands. I feel I'd like the remoteness of them.

These days, there are only 2 locations that are on my list that I haven't been to yet. Japan, so I can hang out with Jon and get drunk (haha) and Cuba. My parents live in Miami so I'm planning a trip to Cuba this winter.

I travel light, always solo and like to go off the beaten track. My love / passion for photography and travel have totally ruined my life and I could'nt be happier. Lol

Cheers, michael

Meet in Cuba for one too many mohitos, then? It's possible I'll be there in December! Hehe :)
