Has anyone got one of these or tried one?
I see that there have been a few for sale on ebay lately -but few takers.
I thought that with the rapid advance and the built in 85 viewfinder that it might make a good shooter.

Droug was intended as a replacement for Zorki line of cameras, but never took off, apparently due to reliablility problems.

This lack of reliability is what I thought. I have tried several spring powered FSU cameras only to find them unreliable. Nice paperweights of which I have a few! The fewer moving parts, the better as I have found out by spending time in the FSU over the past 11 years.

It's my understanding that the advance on the Droug can cause problems. It has a chain drive of some sort. Never seen one in person

The trigger wind on Canon V-T and VI-T cameras also uses a chain drive, which is nearly eternal and indestructible. If the Drug has problems, it must be from that FSU chain! (Or maybe "Drug" is what the QC people were on when they checked them...)

I have one of these cameras and think it is the best FSU 35mm ranfgefinder made has lifesize viewfinder directly over the lens ,that negates parallex error ,with 35mm and 85mm frames(43mm rangefinder) best feature is it the only FSU camera to have a wheel on the rangefinder cam just like any Leica or Canon so ALL lSM lenses can be used.I use a Canon 135 f3.5 very often with great results. The chain is very robust and simple, but should be lubed from time to time.I had strap lugs installed and now use it more than my BESSA R or M2.By the way it was not meant to be a replacement fo the Zorki line rather an"answer" to the LOMO LENINGRAD as such it is . I also have the Lenningrad nnd find that because of the lens limitation I seldom use it

At http://www.photohistory.ru/35R-F-Cam.htm (in Russian) the author claims that it was indeed designed as the replacement for Zorkis. At the main page he states that the information was collected in collaboration with KMZ officials, so it might have some truth.
It could also be both the response to Leningrad and a replacement for Zorkis, why not. In the end, production decisions were made not at the factory but at Gosplan headquarters, so the usual free market logic doesn't helps much with analyzing decisions made in a centralized planned economy.
