Thought it was interesting. The mockup has what looks like an old Vivitar preset M42 prime lens on it; I'm sure that's just there to stick something on the front that resembles a lens. Anyway, here it is:

That's an old T-mount lens Bill.
The camera looks awkward as hell, but it's nice to see someone with ideas.

Ah, good catch. Yes, I'm sure you're right, that's a t-mount.
I agree also that the camera looks awkward. I was also interested in whether the concept actually calls for a slapping mirror (SLR) or if it's some kind of EVF like the micro 4/3 cameras. I also agree that it is good to see designers thinking outside the box. There are few reasons, as others have pointed out, for a digital camera to ape the form and function of a film-based SLR (or rangefinder) camera.
EDIT: And by the way, I like the way the camera is being used in an 'over the crowd' PJ style. Now take it a step further - detach the LCD from the camera and mount it on a heads-up display clipped to the photographer's eyeglasses or hat. Use thin light comm wire or even fast Bluetooth to update the display with what the camera 'sees' and a wireless remote shutter and you have a camera you could mount on a pole to get those great PJ shots.

Interesting for sure. It looks like something Olympus might come up with.

I like that. Sorta like a digital periscope camera. Sorta.
I don't have a clue about sensor design and sensor/lens dynamics, but I wonder if getting the lens and the sensor into a box separate from the rest of the camera might open up some design opportunities.
E.g., suppose you carried the lens/sensor package with your hands and wore the rest of the camera. If all you need to put in the box that people hold in their hands is the lens, lens mount and sensor, does that mean you can use larger sensors with fewer design challenges?

Nikon and Casio kind of had something like that going on. Remember the Coolpix E900/950/995 series? My wife still has the E995 I gave her way back when, and still loves it. The lens/sensor was attached to the camera, but I'd guess could have been detached and located elsewhere via some kind of umbilical.

Here is another rumored replacement for the DSLR: finally. I am constantly surprised that the DSLR has stayed around so long, totally mechanical with a sensor crammed in. This rumor is Full Frame, no mirror, no pentaprism, no mechanical auto focus, no shutter, and along with no pentaprism it has an electronic viewfinder:

The hair dryer above, and the Red Station in the link are similar to what Ricoh is doing with their GXR system.... lots of cool stuff happening in the world of photography lately......

As long as they're redesigning things for the sake of redesigning things. Let's put the drivers seat in the middle of the car.
The McLaren F1 from the mid-90s had a middle driver's seat and two passenger seats on either side, slightly behind.

it is absolutely silly. it is not even ergonomic. It really looks like hair dryer!
