Contrary to reports on another thread ('Anti-Americanism') I have never said that the current president of the United States is a crook. Like many others, inside and outside the United States, I entertain serious doubts as to his suitability for the job, but I had hitherto refrained from saying that even in private correspondence.
That I am accused of calling him a crook is a triple calumny, against George W. Bush, against the American people who voted for him, and against myself.
I apologize for starting a new thread on this topic but as the previous thread has been closed I cannot defend myself elsewhere.
