I realize that the quality of this image is rather dismal (in addition to being shot with a compact digicam, I've also cropped it to exclude other kids in the background), but that isn't the point of this thread...
When my son was young, he attended a number of different summer camps. One such camp was "Rocket Camp", in which the kids learned all about rockets. But the highlight for the kids was no doubt building two model rockets of their own then launching them on the last day of camp. Back then I had a little Canon digital Elph that I carried with me for snapshots. Given the lack of any sort of motor drive and the amount of shutter lag of the little Canon, I felt fortunate to have captured both of my son's rockets in blast off complete with a plume of exhaust. Though my sense of anticipation might deserve some credit, there was also more than a little dumb luck involved. Thus the point of this thread. If you have any images to share that exhibit dumb luck (ideally with a story to go along with them), this would be the appropriate thread.
